Arizona Leads the Way

Kudos to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer for signing S.B. 1070 into law. This immigration enforcement legislation is a blueprint for the rest of the nation.

This is truly a case of good policy and good politics. Couple the murder of rancher Rob Krentz with the fact that Phoenix is the kidnap capital of North America and that all that crime is directly linked to Mexican criminal organizations and illegal aliens and Brewer really couldn’t not sign it into law.

Now comes the handwringing and pouting and whining by those who don’t want our immigration laws enforced, who want the borders wide open and who advocate an amnesty for the 20-30 million illegal aliens already here.

Rep. Raul Grajalva, congressman from Tucson wants to hurt his own state’s business by boycotting Arizona businesses. Just who is he representing, hmmm?

A mini riot broke out on Friday near the state capital after the signing ceremony. Al Sharpton (?) is planning a march. Great, go for it. Let the people of Arizona, who BTW support this bill by an amazing 70%, get a good look at those who oppose the law. Heck, by the time that nationally known race baiter leaves town support could be at 75%.

As for those who purport to speak for the Hispanic community, shut up. Everyone who claims that this alienates Hispanics has insulted Hispanic Americans who support the law and oppose illegal immigration. And, by making that claim they have derided the entire Hispanic community as bigots who only see race in this legislation. My experience with Hispanic Americans is quite different.

Racial Profiling! The racial profiling claim is now being made by pundits who apparently are shocked that a government, any government even a state government would actually try to enforce the law. Wake up. The situation is critical in AZ and along the border. The AZ government is actually trying to protect its citizens. Watch some of these pundits get it totally wrong;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF5sbgwKKlk

I personally know Rep. Russell Pearce, author of this and many other bills in the state legislature. Russell is a former Sheriff Deputy and a devout Mormon. His goal is to protect the people, all the people, from criminals. He is motivated by the “right thing.”

I worked with Russell in 2004 when Arizona passed Proposition 200 to deal with illegal aliens with 57% of the vote. (BTW pundits, in 2004 more Arizona Hispanic American voters voted for Prop. 200 than voted for President Bush…look it up.)

The State of Arizona, Gov. Jan Brewer, Rep. Russell Pearce, Maricopa Co. Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa Co. District Attorney Andy Thomas and the voters and citizens of Arizona have shown the rest of the states how to deal with illegal immigration. Copy it. Don’t pay attention to the whiners. But, pay attention to this; Everyone who supports this legislation supports the law. Everyone who opposes it opposes law…period.

If we are to remain a nation of laws we need to show respect for those laws. The rioters don’t have respect for the law. Illegal aliens don’t have respect for the law. Those end users of cheap illegal alien labor have no respect for the law. Keep that in mind in the days and week ahead.
